Combine PBEM/Incompatible

I mentioned this in the other thread on the CTD, but decided to move it here because it is a different issue and I do want this issue to get lost.
My second PC allows me to pick the files to Combine. However, it then pops up with an error message: "Incompatible Save Game File or Version".
How can I fix this to proceed?

Which files are you trying to combine? It may be that one of them is not a valid save (.sve) file.

Here is the dialog. I select all six files and I get the error.

I'm not the programmer around here, but it's suspicious to me that the Britain file is so much smaller. Perhaps as an experiment you can start a new game of this same scenario and play as Britain and see if the file you generate is larger. If so, it might be a matter of a corrupted file, in which case your Britain player would have to take his turn again. Just a guess, but it seems worth a shot.

When I look at my sent email the attachment for that file says 1065 kb.
I sent you a second turn and it says the attachment is 1069.

Turn was resent and his file is smaller again, so it appears to be the way it is. How can I check (or should I send the saves somewhere?)

Eric,
Could I send the files to you so you can tell us what went wrong?

This is really strange, why would you be receiving files almost 100kb smaller than they are supposed to be?

?? What do you mean 100kb smaller? Of course, actual file size is determined by the hard drive/cluster size. But do you mean the file you sent me should have been another size?

Please zip them all up and send them to

Yeah. One of the files I sent was 1065 kb, the other was 1069.

Do you have a really low file size limit on your email or something?
Why would I need to zip them? I zipped them and resent. Guess we will see if that works, but I dont see why that would be it.

No file size limit. Zipping can help by avoiding file corruption.
It didn't work, but now your file shows 1050kb. So zipping it did change something. There were others sent unzipped so I might have other corrupted files.

Sent. I know the seven of us are looking forward to figuring this out. Let me know what else I can do.
Also, if you want to e-mail me/pm me the information about the common dialog you are using for the combine, I'd be happy to run some tests on my two machines (both VISTA, one 64-bit that doesn't work and the other 32-bit that does work) to see if I can figure out what the difference is between them.

HiHi
Just a thought Andrew; while we wait for the prob to be sorted Howsabout you post a list here of the Nation order.
Starting with France we could then redo our turn in order on receipt and forward on to the next guy, this is assuming that we would subsequently be able to revert to 'Combine PBEM' when the probs fixed.
Thoughts?
All the Best
Peter

I'd like to wait a little while longer. I'm a bit disappointed that we don't have an aswer yet. Seems we would have either heard "it's your computer" or "we found the problem" by now??

Eric...Anything? Can I at least get confirmation the files got to you? We'd love to get this figured out so we can start playing.
