AI Air Attacks vs. Surface Groups

I'm having problems getting AI aircraft to launch and attack surface groups. How do I program aircraft to launch and attack surface groups that are detected during the course of the scenario?

I think that you can either place some planes in a Formation Air patrol with ASuW loadouts or you launch an Air Patrol with a specific location. Once the AI detects your ships and confirms their hostility, the planes will automatically attack. The problem you may be experiencing is the inability of the AI to 'know' that you are hostile through its lack of reconnaissance. The AI may have detected your ships, but only 'sees' them as unknowns and not hostile units.

Not much to add to what Herman said, getting the AI to detect the player is the most difficult part. The AI doesn't even need attackers in the air once the detect happens, the AI will launch any free planes to attack the detected player ships (but I like to leave some strikers in the air for quicker reaction to the detection).

I'm pretty certain the AI has detected and determined holstility. It fired torpedoes and SSMs at me and the grounded AC were well within range with proper loadouts! Let me play around with it this weeken and I'll try to get some reoccuring AC patrols in the air at the start and see if they will engage....I'm probably missing something simple! If I can't get it to attack me I'll zip the scenario and my database and send it in.
