Changed System Graphics and Sounds

Hello all,

I have a little scenario which I'd like to post, but it includes changed system graphics and sounds. What's the best way to pack and post that, so that other players won't loose their vanilla AT? Thanks for your help!

Post it as a master file (ptmaster...) on http://www.advancedtactics.org/index.php and it will be approved by the mods in due time. For packaging, I suggest you have a look at any of the other graphics etc mods available, and you'll soon figure it out. Easiest way to learn a very straightforward thing ;-)

Thank you, Widell.

However, as far as I can see, the packaging tutorial does not explain how to handle changes SYSTEM GRAPHICS. The explanation given is based on Vic's Netherland 1940 sceanrio, and that does not include changed System Graphics like Supply, Political Points or the Background Graphics. Mine does. So the question remains, what's the best way to pack it without making people overwrite their own system graphics and never get them back?

Maybe there's an easy solution to that. I'd be grateful for any further help.

I can't think of a way to have that happen automatically. My suggestion is two make to files - one with the scenario and one with the System graphics and really describe what needs to be done so someone doesn't lose their original system graphics..... beacuse you just know someone will and will be very angry! It was never intended for modders to change system graphics.

However i am working on it to make this possible to on a scenario to scenario basis for the next release.

Vic, first off all, a big THANK YOU for this great game!

I understand that system graphics shouldn't be changed. However, I would greatly appreciate the chance to change at least the Supply and Political Points graphics. These oil barrels and WW2 guys just look too strange in a Star Wars mod ...
[:D]

Still, I would be very interested, when the next release is coming. Will it be a patch or a completely new game? And is there some list or info on the new upcoming features? Very curios ...

Like Bombur suggested, you can probably provide the file with instructions on what to back up and distribute it for people to use at their own risk. Worst case is a re-install after all which is not too bad compared to other things [:)].

I think i fixed a bug in the latest version already that should make it possible to now use SFType Override picture on the Supply or PP itemtypes. So if you make a dummy SFType with picture you want you can use that to override the std picture.

And the next release will be a completly new game. I hope to give some info soon. In the meantime i can only say it will be fully backwards compatible with all AT content created thus far and will add more options and AI to support grognard style scenarios. There is also a very big chance that the much requested alliances will be added to the engine too!

Kind regards,
Vic
