JTCS unit viewer and vista 64 bit?

Just got a new machine and it came with vista premium 64 bit.
Has anyone gotten the Unit Viewer to work with this os? Are there any plans on the Matrix end to make it compatible?

I understand it is a mod and if nothing can be done so be it. However it is a wonderful tool and with more machines going vista\Windows 7(soon) I hope it can be updated.

That is why I have 2 machines. Vista and XP, have a Mac but that don't count. I heard 64 is a bit hairy on the program side but that is just hear say. Good Luck

Thanks for the good wishes Barker. The viewer is the only program I have had any issues with. My understanding is most problems were driver issues in the beginning and that most have been squared away.

Check if you have .NET installed on your Vista x64 machine...
I use only 32bit version of Vista so I don't have a chance to check compatability for 64bit Vista's

Thanks for the reply.

I have "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1". FWIW it is set under properties to windows xp SP2 compatibility. I've tried running it outside of the programsx86 folder in both "my documents" and from a folder on desktop in case Vista64 didn't like it under programs. Neither worked.

I get the "JTCS UnitViewer has stopped working" popup and that windows is collecting information about the problem. Under details I get this...

"Files that help describe the problem:
C:users\myname\appdata\local\temp\WER13C6.tmp.version.txt
C:users\myname\appdata\local\Temp\WER23ED.tmp.hdmp

I'm a learn as I go computer user so don't know it that is any help to you but thought I'd throw it out there.

If you can do something to help that would be great and much appreciated. If not, well that's the way it goes. It's just such a great tool and the thing I miss most in any game I play since getting my new computer.

Thanks again for checking in.

email sent from sweed59 gmail account. Had to zip the hdmp file as it was approx 65mb unzipped, to large for gmail 25 mb limit. winzip compressed it to a little under 20mb.

Hope it gives you some answers to compatibility. If not I'll just continue to play as I have for the past 10 years, digging through the tables when I need to find weapons data. Still effective but so slow compared to using your great tool.

Well the email was not delivered. Got a message from gmail that it was not allowed as, I believe, it was too large and your account refused it.

Can you upload your files to some network storage ? ...http://www.yousendit.com/ for example

I read some microsoft whitepapers about x64 compatability issues with 32bit applications, it seems that some hardcoded library reference in my code calls 64bit file (with same name).

Signed up at yousendit for their free lite account and sent you the hdmp zipped file. File should be there for 7 days for you to d'load. I'll just post the text file here instead of sending it.

This is the entire text file message..
Windows NT Version 6.0 Build: 6001 Service Pack 1
Product (0x3): Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
Edition: HomePremium
BuildString: 6001.22291.amd64fre.vistasp1_ldr.081020-1655
Flavor: Multiprocessor Free
Architecture: X64
LCID: 1033

Thanks again for looking into this.

Hi, it seems that problem is within FMOD Ex sound library, include version is 32bit

Try this workaround please, download the file (http://arkady.cz/storage/fmodex.zip) a unpack it to JTCSUnitViewer directory (confirm overwrite of the current file)...and try run my application again...let me know if this work.

I'll try create new version that did not rely on external unmanaged libraries

Gave it a try but it did not work. Got the "JTCS UnitViewer has stopped working" popup and a popup that says...
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." .

The only option from here is to "close program." There is no longer a "details" box to describe the problem.

Thanks.

Sure, I'd be more than willing to test any new builds. Thanks.
