I said it was "being prepared," and that is usually a multi-day process. The patch itself has been prepared, but still has to be checked over to make sure the installer works, the files are all there, etc.

Any chance of seeing this today? I'd love to fire up a new game for the weekend. [:)]

It's unclear whether it can be released this weekend. We hit upon a rather annoying snag that has held us up. Of course, after the various unanticipated delays in finishing the patch, this was almost to be expected...

Hey, Gil, thanks to you and Eric and your untiring work years after the initial release. I am not even ready to get immersed in your new CoG release and really favor the Civil War period but plan on buying your new title (and anything else) as a measure of support to a really, really fine company and some gifted and classy craftsmen! Thanks, you guys are the best in wargaming.

You won't be disappointed. CoGEE is an awesome game. I wish the naval battles in FoF were like the ones in CoGEE.

Thanks in advance from this corner as well.

I have every confidence that the patch will arrive when it is ready and meet (or exceed) the standards that we have come to expect from WCS.  It is very good for us that the desire to get it right overrides the desire to get it out.

And yes, CoG-EE is outstanding.

Best Regards

Gil -

Would you be able to post the list of fixes and updates in the patch? I assume it won't be saved game compatible?

Thanks

All,
Thanks for the sentiments, though in this case they're not fully deserved. It's quite frustrating to know that the patch is ready, but partly for technical reasons and partly for logistical reasons it's being delayed. This is the week, though, even if I have to release an illegal copy on Rapidshare!

kingwanabee,
I don't have handy the list, but I can tell you that it fixes all of the bug issues that have been the cause of complaint, plus it has some new stuff. It definitely breaks saves.

Please, please be a separate detailed battle generator with built in edit. [&o]

I know it's next to impossible but a strategy gamer can dream. [:'(] I fired up ye olde 'Age of Rifles' last night and it made me think of the detailed battles in FoF. Great stuff!

How are the technical issues coming along? Unfortunately, today is the last day of my vacation.[:(] There goes all my free time for FOF.

Gentle bump since hump-day is passing into history.

Sorry, no new news. There's another issue that needs to be resolved, and then we'll have a better idea.

A quick update: the installer build had to be redone because about 40MB of superfluous files crept in, so we're now testing the new version. According to the first tester to take a look, it seems to check out. If the installer is indeed working properly and complete it still might not be possible to release it before Monday because of the holiday(s). But at least it's now looking like there is no other reason for further delay.
