Hi gang,

Good gracious ! I've tried everything. Just got my first new computer in 8 years and it has VISTA. I installed the Campaign game and even patched it today and the thing will not even start up.

Could someone possibly help me with this problem ? This is my favorite war game by far.

Is this with Matrix's JTCS, Talonsoft CS, or some other Campaign game?

This is John Tiller's super Campaign Game the World War 2 one originally done by Talonsoft. I just love it but my sound card konked on my other computer which is an XP. Bought a Vista one, downloaded the 64 bit drivers for NVIDIA and still cant get it to launch.

I would appreciate any help.

I asked because lots of people here have Vista and no problems other than recent reports of a user made add on program not working.

Are you sure that the updates worked? Can you navigate to the main folder and inside each game folder try double clicking the exe?

What is shown in your Windows Start menu?

I have been trying to launch it from the desktop but then I tried from the start menu which had a folder for each separate one, West Front, East Front and Rising Sun, wouldnt launch from there. I will try again later then post.

Hi RSMax Have you tried right-clicking on the programs .exe file and choosing "run as Administrator"

I've really tried everything. I try to launch the game as administrator, I try running it in XP compatibility mode still the game will not launch. I'm wondering if it's just because it's 64 bit. I downloaded all drivers for the video card and installed Vista service pacl 1.

What is the name of the application in your Start Menu that you click to start CS?

What exactly happens when you click it?

It goes to an hourglass infinitely - will not respond at all.  Whether I click on it from the start menu, desktop or any shortcuts,simply will not get into the game.

So it is the John Tillers Campaign Series West Front.exe application that is not launching, not WF.exe

The reason I ask is that John Tillers Campaign Series West Front.exe is simply a front end application to launch wf.exe or one of the editors (SCN, MAP, or ORG) I do not believe that it uses any of the sophisticated graphics system calls, and is thus a pretty vanilla application.

Did you try launching WF.exe directly from the folder in which it was installed? If so, what happened?

I'm really not sure what you mean by " exe ". If that means launching it from any means possible, that I did. I tried from inside the folder, from the desktop short cut, the folder inside the programs listing.

I uninstalled it, not out of frustration but I will try to reinstall and play .

So, yes indeed, I have tried any way that I have ever tried with any of my games, to launch this one and no go.

How did you UPDATE the game? Maybe it is not recognizing the 1.04 UPDATE.

What was the procedure?

My laptop is a 64 bit Vista machine and I can run the MCS with no issues, apart from the white map flashing, but that is remedied based on the relevent posts.

I installed the 1.04 patch through the automatic screen that pops up upon installing the patch and yes, when I just uninstalled the game, it was version 1.00 that uninstalled so, no , it did not recognise the patch.

I re installed the game and still cannot launch it.

I have a laptop too, Vista 64 bit.

This is a ZIP file and will require you to unzip it, you can do this by rightclicking and choosing UNZIP TO HERE or EXTRACT TO HERE something or other.

A single file will be unzipped: JohnTillerCampaignSeries-UpdateDR-v104.EXE

Double click that and follow the instructions.

Keep your serial handy.

With the latest patch it should work. Just found out that JCTS also runs fine on Windows 7 64 bit.
So far so good.

My bad....your second post in this thread made it sound like you had the World at War version from Talonsoft/Take 2....
