For a unit to benefit from being in command radius does the following have to hold true?

1) Unit is from same platoon? and
2) Subordinate unit icon is in green circle of command squad?

Or, is it the following:

3) Units can benefit from any command squad? and
4) Subordinate unit's circle crosses green circle of command squad?

5) Is there cumulative benefit from being inside multiple areas?

I believe this is how it works;

Units can benefit from any command squad
Units must be within the command circle
Only the best command benefit available applies
