Import Exception

What would cause a single player record to not allow importing from the database? The player doesn't already exist in the association, so I'm not sure why it won't let me import him for the current year.

I've had this happen a few times. Each time it was a player who never played in the field that season. After the (attempted) import, you'll see it on the screen as an exception.

Does that mean that there's no way to get that record imported?

Not unless you're savvy enough to edit the Lahman dB. One example of this situation is the 1974-75 Oakland A's. They had Herb Washington on the roster strictly as a pinch runner. I had to create my own Washington, as PS would not import him at all. I just looked in the latest Lahman and he's not there any more.

I'm not a slouch at database work, but in looking at that database I don't really think it's worth it for the one non-important player that I wanted to import. I'd rather be able to modify the PS database, or at least have the in game option to change position players to pitchers and vice versa. The Marlins used a fielder to pitch an inning against the Phillies yesterday. I don't think you can do this in Puresim. I just learned, though, that you can change the position of the pitcher in the batting order.
