First/Better Team Peanut Gallery (Actual Players Stay OUT)

This threat is to allow those following the Better Team AARs to make observations or post questions from time to time when doing so in either AAR would be inappropriate.

Here's my question: In the recent carrier battle in which the Allies lost two CVs, John said that the Jap CVs didn't suffer any damage. But in the Allied AAR they said that two Jap CVs suffered damage. Have I missed something? Did the Jap CVs take any damage?

Probably FOW rearing its ugly head. Bad news for the Allied players as they beleive a horrible mistruth perpetuated on them by the game engine.

I thought both sides got the same combat replay unless the Sync bug hit.  Am I wrong?  If fog-of-war is that good in WitP, another tip of the cap to the designers.  That would be very realistic to have a carrier battle and for one side to think it had damaged the other side's carriers when, in fact, that hadn't happened.

shoho got some near misses, of which the allied side might think it at least damaged a ship,

second damaged ship is a riddle to me two, there were bombing runs against 2 carriers (1 being shoho), maybe thats what they meant

I know from watching my own replays that the Japanese are being fed wrong information by FOW. I have seen a replay where say Sara was being attacked when in fact it Enterprise was the target. I have also had the delightful experience of opening the turn file after watching the combat replay expecting to find a ship about to sink only to find it barely scratched. So, yes FOW will give VERY misleading results. I assume other people have seen air battle replays where the screen says a particular a/c type has been wiped yet the enemy aircraft keep attacking and destroying the type with a "0" under it. That's FOW giving you more kills than really occured but the combat engine recognizing the a/c are still there and attacking them (sometimes its because the unit broke off too).

The Allies claim to have scored "Fuel Storage explosion" hits on Akagi and Kaga so they definitely were not talking about Shoho.

If they had kept at least some infantry on the island though, they could have repulsed the invasion.
