Anyone ever tried this? - - Russian AI

One of the problems with the USSR AI in the 1939 campaign game, is that its force pool purchases are not placed on the map until the USSR is at war, then upon the commencement of war suddenly all their purchases from 1939 on are suddenly placed on the map, around all the cities.

To avoid that, I'm going to try the following, and wonder if anyone has already done so with the AI:

1) Using Chocolino's patented USSR declaration of war on Estonia in Sept 1939, thus unfreezing USSR forces, I'll set the USSR to human controlled, long enough to get that war with Estonia going, then put the USSR back into AI control;

2) proceed through the months as normal, letting the USSR AI make its purchases and hopefully actually place them on the map and position them better;

3) of course use the modified USSR force pool purchase scheme, whereby the USSR purchases more infantry than armor, more armor than air force.

Gary, I'd really like to use these ideas in my Time of Wrath campaign. It seems really quite self explanatory, except for changing the Soviet purchase priorities. Can you please give me a link to that post or otherwise explain how to do it?

Thanks!

Gary, I think your excellent idea further improves on the "Russian production mod" that you have created earlier. Even by itself it makes the game much more enjoyable against the AI already. This idea will further enhance it.

Thx. I just did a simple test, played 5 turns after doing what I outlined above. Looking good, because when I changed back to human controlled at turn 5 the Ruskies were on the way to taking Estonia and had moved many units towards the borders, and there were no purchased units in the deploy pool.

I think I'll start a real game against the AI now, using the above procedure.

I finally got up to June 22,'41 in my game, trying this technique in this thread. No joy. Here's the screenshot of the first Russian move after the German declaration of war: exactly the same as before, with all their purchases undeployed till now.
