Muzzle Flashes

I have noticed that I still cant see the muzzle flashes when playing as a client in h2h. I checked it while setting up a game against myself (Laptop and Desktop PC). The map was Carentan. This issue should be solved!!! It looks like there are other opinions on that matter in the CCS forums but I definitely cant see them as client.

I just tested and played as client

All muzzle flashes were visible from 57mmAT guns , tracer, etc

Will check further for you though.

Andrew, thanks for your quick reply. I checked the Carentan map with some MG42 squads against some AB rifle teams. All were deployed in houses within each other's LOS. I could see the flashes by the paras as German side was host whereas the American side couldnt see the muzzle flashes by the German MG's. After switching sides it was the other way round.

Ok.. I see what you mean.

I can see muzzle blasts on client... no problem there.

I can't see muzzle flashes.... I'm not sure this was ever supposed to work... will check on it though.

thanks

I think it can sometimes be a tactival advantage for the host being able to see the muzzleflashes whereas the client has to guess where the fire came from. It would be a great improvement, also from a realistical viewpoint, to have this changed/fixed. I hope this is possible.
Would be even greater if, as far as it is possible, to implement this for the other re-released CC games from Matrix.
Thanks in advance for your support so far.

I came across this by chance when I found out I had sometimes "supressed" the wrong positons. It bugs me because in my h2h GC I am usually client. So, thank you for having a look at it Andrew. Hope it is not too difficult to solve this bug.

Andrew, I can confirm that the host can see both muzzle flashes and tracer line of clients and that clients can only see the tracer line and can not see muzzle flashes of small arms and mgs. Large guns and AT rockets give a flash that can be seen by clients, but an enemy mortar "raindrop" that indicates a fired round can not be seen by either host or client.

Thanks Drill... yes I've seen (or not seen) exactly the same in tLd.

We are looking at remedying this for both tLD and WaR

I have noticed it has not been fixed by the beta patch. What's the status here. Will it be fixed in the final version of the patch?

It's on the fix list of the new exe I received today.

Will be testing it later.

It's probably the same cause as the invisible vehicle bug. Looks like the client has many problems. Also, the soldier monitor won't tell the correct rank or position of each soldier. they are all listed as soldier while the host sees, exemple is for a tank, Leader, driver, gunner, etc....

Might be a good idea to do a complete check of the client issue.

Cheers,

If you are having multiple problems please list them here.

Still can't reproduce an invisible vehicle...........

Also, the soldier monitor won't tell the correct rank or position of each soldier. they are all listed as soldier while the host sees, exemple is for a tank, Leader, driver, gunner, etc....

Will look at this

serk

Confirm your H2H finding re soldat/soldier

All these issues are individual issues.. there is no one fix for the client.

Each has a different section of code that needs attending to.... why it has all gone out of sync.... I don't know.

Perhaps the beta patch should be taken down..  ???

A lot of letters between B for Beta and G for Gold. Perhaps we need a C for Chuckles patch. [:D]

good to hear that the muzzle flashes will be working correctly. I haven't noticed that the soldat/soldier monitor wasn't working properly. Does this occur solely in the beta version or is the release verison also affected? The beta patch is still up in the members section.
