Familiarize yourself with the factory upgrade paths which differ from other forms of WITP. For instance, Claudes upgrade to A6M3 (not A6M2), A6M2 to A6M5 (not A6M3), Nells to G4m2 (not G4m1 Betty), and Betty's to P1Y1. Planning can save you a lot of supply points.
As far as dive bombers go, the Sonias do well in places like China without heavy flak. You also have some special Ki-36 units with biological bombs which will lose these weapons if you upgrade them. Eventually you get some Ki-48-II (twin engine dive bombers), but by late 1942, dive bombers are generally not a good option for ground attack. Plus they use two engines. Leave the dive bombing to the Navy and build more level bombers or fighter bombers. Most RHS players can't get enough of the Ki-21 Sallies. They are fantastic for both closing airfields and ground attack on fortified positions. They carry a heavier payload for a longer distance than the Ki-48. Perhaps you meant the Ki-49. At start there is a lot of production of F1M2 float fighters which you don't really need that can be used for something else. However, don't change too much too fast or you will crash the economy. Watch your stockpiles and make changes incrementally.
