1944 scenario

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

1944 scenario

Having played the 1944 scenario a couple of times I am wondering if there is a strategy for the Axis that leads to a win with the oil option on (and the option of not having the game end in 1945).

My experience is that I can hold out until 1946/47 but eventually my manpower is of such bad quality that the defensive lines break.

Would be happy to know what approaches others have taken to win it.
