Unlikely in AE. The Brooklyn class CLs had about 50% more firepower than the New Orleans CAs, but only against lightly armoured targets. Against a DD TF like that, the target-rich environment would have saturated their two main directors. The reason Brooklyns do so well in stock seems to be that the game engine doesn't model how targets are actually engaged, but instead seems to treat all guns as firing at full ROF while targeting individual Japanese warships under local control. The number of hits reported on the Japanese ships is several times what would be expected under the best of circumstances. (Sorry, JWE...)

I suspect there is an wacky hardcode for Boise. Maybe some family member of some coder was from her crew and he put an hidden routine. [:D]

No, it's probably the game engine working as designed (WAD). In reality, the extra turrets quickly ran into diminishing returns. (Sorry JWE) The Clevelands only mounted 12x6" and the British eventually rearmed their comparable cruisers with 9x6" to reduce topweight and make space for AA. (The USN monitored the metacentric height on the Clevelands like a hawk to give you some insight into the importance of the topweight problem.)

You ain't seen nothing yet. This little action a few days ago made me very sad...

Ise sunk the next day and neither of the heavily damaged destroyers saw home again.

(In all fairness though Ise had already taken a torp in an earlier action, and took another one from air attack on the way home)

guess the six inchers from Boise couldn´t penetrate Ise´s armor, so it´s all about the torps I guess... but still, what a result... [8|]

Yes. There were two database errors and a code level slot typo that affected Boise (sorry herwin). These were found and corrected in AE, maybe the WiTP patch will incorporate them.

If the AE developers mess with my Boise I will wage a campaign all across the internet to discredit the game! [;)]

Perhaps new rule of war should be officially recoginzed. "Never mess up with Boise!" should stand just behind "Never wage a land war against Russia!" [:D]

This does not speak well of my skills as a commander since I have lost the Boise and the Boise II by Nov 43.[:'(]

Eh, I've seen results like this and battles where Boise gets hit by a torpedo or two and sinks with only a half dozen rounds of return fire...

EDIT: To quote an old Boise encounter I had in a game.

So the Bosie + huge number of PT boats = deathstar on the high seas [:)]
