Smoke and Elevation

This is from Amfreville, the center building, firing at it 120m South from the farmhouse. Was firing from 0.0 elevation into an L2 building of 6.0 elevation. There was smoke directly in front of the building, less than 15m away, many many smoke shells. My mgs spotted a unit inside the L2 house and opened fire with clear LOS and scored a kill.
Does smoke have a maximum height or does it just not work from different elevations?
