Looks a bit small to be 4.2in. I'll say 3in.

British soldier firing a 3" (3.2 inch) stokes mortar in front of the Old Pagoda, Moulmein, Burma. Probably late 1944-45 ish.

Yes, the British 2nd Division was composed primarily of chubby albino Ghurkhas and trained to fight in the snows of the Himalyas where these physical characteristics would be to their advantage! [:'(]

It is the helmet netting that makes them look Ghurka. On my monitor they definitely do not look albino and they have no tan lines.

On the other hand, the assistant with the foreground mortar has that European bean-pole thing going on.

The Mandalay Historical Society is not going to be happy at their choice for the battery location.
