I noticed in the first mission that the weapons were missing from the soldiers i killed. i thought, ok maybe the game wants me to work my way up to better weapons. no problem. but I just killed all the Mercs form the "meet me at crossroads" ambush. Every single weapon that the mercs were using were missing. I realy wanted a to see a few of them too. Any advicr? is this part of the game? bug?

Also any use for the UN base?

When an enemy is killed the items you can find on their corpse are a random subset of the items they were carrying.
This often means that you don't find any weapons, and sometimes you don't find anything at all.

If you really want you can save just before you kill them and reload if they don't drop what you want.
Later on you don't need to worry because you simply buy all the guns and ammo and other fun toys you want to use

The UN Base is part of one of the plots I believe.
