Help needed: corrupted download

I downloaded the Luca Cheie D Day scenarios from Blitzkrieg, and unfortunately the Sword Beach scenario seems to be corrupted. I have tried deleting, and re-downloading several times, but still no good.

When I boot up Westfront (Matrix version) the scenario is shown in the listings, but the map does not come up. Trying to access through the scenario editors merely results in an error message[:(][:(][:(]

I am guessing that something is amiss at the Blitzkrieg end. Could any good Samaritan out there please take pity on me and email the files to me at: d1xsmle@yahoo.co.uk

This may be pushing my luck, but the Tinian - ten miles of Hell file (Rising Sun) also refuses to download. If anyone has got that one as well, I would be very grateful. There would definitely be a beer in it for anyone from the Greater London area who is able to help[:D][:D][:D]

Many thanks,

Richard.

Stefan,

Thanks for this. Unfortunately, the files that you sent me still don't work. For the record, my operating system remains the tried and trusted Windows XP!!!

I am open to suggestions.

Richard

Can you open the map file in the map editor?

Can you open the oob file in the org editor?

Can you open the scn file in the scenario editor?

I'll try to download it at the Blitz and see what comes up in my folders. He may not have done the old map-edit trick. I'll see what comes up.

No joy on both counts.
Only the bmp, org, and scn files are included with the D-Day Sword Beach scenario. No map file and I had the same error message when trying to open the scn file.
Tinian - Ten Miles of Hell for Rising Sun gave me the same error message when attempting to download.

I tried to access the public FTP files but was blocked.

I see Chema has also made a post on the Blitz CS forum, so hopefully someone there can help out.
Or, if someone has the map file and other files that work can post them up, there or here?

Those are usually the first steps when I try and troubleshoot a scenario.

I tend to try and open the map, then the oob, then scenario.

No map file would show the most common problem with custom scenarios.

On the other hand, having a map file that loads properly in the map editor, but not having it load in the scenario editor could mean that the map file is not being recognized through the scn file... changing the name usually resolves this. So, I usually always start with asking about the map.

Jason,
Does that mean if I had the map file the scenario file would not error out?
I could not even see if the scenario "shared" a map file by a different name.
Maybe Chema can let us know?

Precisely, the correctly coded map file would solve the problem.

That would mean it is a designer upload issue and not a defect with TheBlitz scenario dBASE? That is good to hear. [:D]
Although I could not access the public ftp area to see if the files where in that location. But, that is another issue altogether? [;)]

For what it is worth, I can recall downloading the D Day and Tinian scenarios successfully last November or December.  I should imagine that these have all proved particularly popular as downloads and would continue to be so if working properly.  It would therefore be very beneficial to us all if someone could get them up and running again.

I lost these scenarios (and more) recently, when my laptop went into autodestruct mode.  The moral here I suppose, is always to back your essential files up.

I await any progress with interest.

Thanks to you all,

Richard.

Luca Chiei has sent me the missing file. If anyone wants the Sword Beach scenario, I would be glad to forward it on.

Richard.
