Horse Trading

Has anyone else noticed horses not appearing on the tradeable resource listing? They appear just fine on the potential trading partner (right) side of the "Trade Advisor" screen but not on the friendly (left) side of the "Trade Advisor" screen. I've confirmed this is several different games with different sides and start periods. Am I missing some restriction in the rules?
Thanks,
Carl

Only three most numerous resources always appear. If you tweaked production a little bit ...which you should, chance is that horses will not appear in those three. This is well known restriction (or should I say deficiency?) of current trade system which is unfortunately one of the low points of game. Just look at PBM section of forum at numerous complains.
Bye the way, temporally restricting production only to agriculture can help ...only agriculture products will be produced and horses are one of them -crops, vine, wool, spices, horses.

I think I've traded for horses in the past. I don't so much trading, but I'm pretty sure Prussia gave some once or twice. Maybe something happened in the later builds, but I doubt it. Anybode else ever trade for horses?

I am playing Spain and have two territories where the horses are in the top two of quantity produced so based on volume produced they should appear.
Thanks,

Yeah I never understood why they didn't go with trade from a national trading pool...

I will hazard a guess this is to accommodate privateers ability to conduct 'piracy' on a trade route. If the trade routes always came from the same location (I suppose you could only have them going from ports and split the trade out - or allow the player to manipulate the trade route) then there will only be a very few locations privateers will be truly useful, and that will make it easier than it already is to take them out.
I have managed to trade horses.

And, there used to be trade costs based on the distance of the trade route. Those are gone, and it would have been too much recoding to chage the trading system, so ....

What would be a nice addition though is the possibility to trade from a stockpile (on top of trade by regions) : either a national stockpile located in the capital of the country, and which could appear in the trade interface below the capital. There would be two lines for the capital : the current one with the monthly-produced ressources, and another one, showing current stockpile (of all ressources, so on more than one line actually).
Or, but that would probably be more complicated, the same system but with regional stockpiles. This would add the possibility of losing (or gaining) the ressources of that regional stockpile in case of an invasion. But this would also require the possibility to move ressources from one region to another (within limits), so I don't know how doable it would be.
edit : Added that to the wish list.

Well, .... if trade was done from a national stockpile, then what happens when the provinces that produce all the stuff that's being traded get occupied by an enemy? You can say, well it's in the national pool, but that's a fiction. In reality the stuff would still be located in the province where it was produced. So, you'd still be trading for stuff that was "captured." The provincial totals seem to work just fine, in my opinion.

Well since they removed the upkeep cost of trade, I think it's already better (didn't know that)...
I still think it should be possible to trade any ressource traded from one singe province not just top three!

Actually, I'd prefer just getting tradable goods given to me by way of a surrender clause in a treaty.

France stripped its enemies of horses on numerous occasions so there would be historical backup for the option as well.
On the observations about Spain in particular being difficult to trade horses with, they seem to have their horse production in several provinces that produce other commodities very well, so quite often horses dont appear as an option.
Agree with others that all commodities produced in a given province should appear in the trade windows, or maybe a filter that allows you to select which 4 commodities will appear.
