Well I do not know how a 9 player game will work out but I will give it a try (if you are going for more than 4 players).

I've downloaded the scenario (Diplomacy II) from the scenario bank, but it wants a password to decrypt. Also it says it's a pt2 file on the web page, but downloads as a zip file. Am I doing something wrong?

It will be a random map I assume, with diplomacy option activated. You do not have to download anything in advance, just make sure AT is updated (1.22)

Also, 9 players might be a bit much, something like 5 or at most 6 perhaps?

To get a good game you might want to edit the map to give roughly equal initial expansion possibilities, it's not nice to be the guy that gets the lone island while everyone else gets two cities on their first turns. I noticed that in the diplomacy games Arditi was running they had edited the map for this reason. If we are to play with shroud on, then a third party could perhaps make the scenario, maybe some experienced player not taking part could do it, just a suggestion. [:)]

Ah, yes, right.

I think to have an interesting diplomatic game you need at least five players, and preferably seven-nine. Any less is just a couple of teams. Wih more, keeping the game going is the challenge.

Okay so we have 5 players so far. I was thinking of the WW2 diplomacy game but If people want the random map that would be fine too now that you can have peace with other players.

I will go with the majority here. Let me know what you guys want. I just want a multiplayer game of something!

I'd prefer the ww2 game

I have a slight preference for a random map game, since they are less predictable, but if it's going to be wwii I want Japan.

The "European Diplomacy II" map by tweber on the website seems quite interesting, with lots of action card options for causing mischief and working with allies. I can't seem to find any other diplomacy game in my AT directory, but I might have deleted files at some point, so not sure what this ww2 map you are talking about is.

A random map (if its edited to be semi-balanced at start) is also interesting.

I too, as I mentioned above, have downloaded this scenario, but it asks me for a password to unzip it. Why is that, or what is the p/w? Anyone know?

The scenario I mentioned is saved as a .pt2 (scenario) file, so it does not need unzipping. Just place it somewhere and load it.

That's what it says on the website, but when I go to ownload it, it comes encrypted as a zip file. It's a mystery to me. Thanks for the help anyway.

Is it renamed to .zip ?
Or does it just show the winzip icon and is still a .pt2 ?

Case 1: try to rename it
Case 2: try to open it out of the game.

edit: As far as i remember Vic used compression to make the pt2-file smaller.
Maybe the reason why it is showed as zip file ? However, try to open it or simply try to rename
and then open it.

edit2: Just tried and on my machine the file arrives at .pt2
Must be a problem with your software setup.

The European Diplomacy II map was the one I was referring to but the random map generator could work. Perhaps we could have a 2 v 2 v 2 game with players paired up. I think we should wait for 1 more player to make it 6 and then we can team up, perhaps exchanging passwords with your team mate at the start in the event that he goes on holiday or awol. Here are the teams so far let me know who you want to ally with:

In case you still need a player, it would be fine to join.

Generally speaking I prefer to play a lone game, with my ten-gallon hat and trusty white horse, but if we're having teams, who would like to be on mine? I have yet to win a game of AT, if that's any recommendation [8|], but I'm very enthusiastic .
