HOTTER THAN H*LL here in NW Louisiana and summer just officially started.............just walked by the outdoor ther. and it only said 105.1 F [X(] (the heat index is only 107+ however 'cause the humidity is low.... 27%).
It's got to be Term's fault and just one of the side effects of his dilly dallying on AE..........[:D][;)]!!!

We have had a few 100+ degee days in the last couple of weeks, which is about 8-10 degrees above the average high temp. for this time of year. I heard some brief moments of the national weather service on one of the digital weather sub-channels, and they harken back to the summer of 1980, and oh how I remember it. One of those days reached 109 and then the other one I heard was 113. I have no idea what the humidity was running back in those days though. That was the year a lot of areas set records for most 100+ temps I would imagine. I always heard that Dallas had 90 or more days of reaching 100+ that summer, but for some reason the internet claims it was only 46 days in a row, or something similar. Fortunately, back then, you might reach 100 by noon, and then a thunderstorm might come up and you would be cooling off to 90-95 that rest of the day, so at least it wasn't 100 practically all of the day that way.
I wonder what the record for the highest 'low' was for that summer? Can you imagine people that don't have air conditioners, having the temp not even get below 90 at night?

In the Midwest its 1988 that sets the standard. We don't see 100 here much in Ohio but we had a bunch that summer. Crops were cooked, lifestock were dropping, it was bad. I was a senior in vet school and we had to go out and float about three dozen sets of horse teeth one day. We started at 7 AM and it was already in the upper 80's. By the time we were done it was pushing 100 and my arm flet like it was going to fall off.

I grew up in inland Southern California. I worked in my father's orange groves, and I remember it being 120 F in the shade. It was worse, though, when I was a professional soccer referee in Virginia. 100 F/100% humidity. I experienced neurological symptoms a couple of times and afterwards always took a gallon of mineral water to the games. That's why my wife likes it in northern England--it rarely reaches 80 F.

Here in Miami it's hot and humid (as always), but this past week we had a real hot one. Hottest day since July, 1944!

Well you either get burned to a crisp or frozen into an icicle. Houston is sort of like your Virginia experience. I spent at least one summer SW of Houston (Rosenburg) and the humidity was probably at least 20% higher on average than in Dallas, but the temp. was maybe 5 degrees cooler. I will never forget those mosquitoes down there, as they reminded you of the War of the Worlds alien spaceships, which had invisible legs underneath them, that's how thick those black mosquitoes were in the air. They didn't appear to fly, but rather seemed to be stuck in mid-air. We used to have those same bugs in Dallas, but about 20-30 years ago they vanished somehow or other. I guess they got tired of the air not being quite as sticky as Houston's.

It's been 95-99 here in Kentucky, headed for Alaska next Sunday 45-60. Won't be back until July 26th. AE best be out[:D] or I'll pout.[:D] or maybe I'll have time to count my gold[:)]

It is odd if it isn't 98-105 any given day in the summer in Kansas, and with the heat index it is always about 100 I would say. I remember in my younger days, when we would have to crawl inside and clean out steel grain bins, they said that it would be about 125-130 inside of them. You also had to wear long sleeve shirts and pants of course.... don't miss those days. We also had to regulate how long we could be in there and had to have mandatory breaks.... AC office is nice now

Thats what you get for beating Texas in the college world serious. But its hot here too, so I don't know what that's all about? [:D]

41 F here right now (1800), no sun and no wind. Will get down to around 26 F overnight, so not all the South Pacific is a warm and balmy place.

topped out @ 106.4 yesterday.............[:o] (the color of my head and expression on my face after about 30 min outside)....its supoosed to 'cool' down to 95 [8D] and a 30% chance of rain Tuesday
