Any chance it will be changed to a more red/brown color? I am just not feeling the green color at the moment. If the colors can be edited upon release to save developers some time that can just as good.

The counters are brown. Guards are dark red. The inset (where the NATO icons are) has a different color representing parent formations.
Where are you seeing green counters?

In the screen shots thread they look olive green to me on my computer.

Look tan to me, which is excellent.

They look slightly olive to me. Sort of a blend of olive and light brown.

I went back and looked at the screens after your comment and agree there is a tinge of green in them. I honestly did not interpret the color as green in my memory, but concede it's there when you look for it.
That said, the color doesn't look American to me. It looks suitably Soviet. But if they were made less green that would be okay too. [8D]

Besides, so what if they're green? It's War in the EAST, not War in the WEST; nobody is going to mistake them for American.

There brown for Soviet regulars, red for Guard units. Hungry's units are lime green. Well since I at it, German regulars are gray, SS are black, Finns are dark blue, Italians are yellow and Romania is powder blue...I hope that clears things up...

We are wargamers! It is traditional that Soviet counters are dark red / brown colours.

The counters are tan-brown, no question about it (I am testing the game and have been staring at them plenty).
I think you are probably having a problem with color constancy (the map is light green, and the NATO area is as well):

The soviet counters have an RGB value of 110/90/2 it is a brown tone with a slight tack of "olive" in it, that is on a hardware calibrated display.
Sometimes colors can get affected and shift by JPEG compressed screenshots, like on the promo page.
I can see how someone with an uncalibrated display can judge them as "green" (Hungarian units have a clear green color) on a few of the screenshots.
However they are of a brown tone which is sampled from various Soviet field gear parts. The soviet Guards units have a dark red.

This entire thread just highlights what complete wackos we all are about our beloved hobby.

Even though I can certainly detect a tinge of olive in the counters I really don't care. They will die just as easily under the treads of my panzers no matter their shade.

I'd rather not talk about the winter.

Besides I am sure that things will be wrapped up well before the snows set in.

In all cases [;)]
That is why I never stop to tell people they can only talk about colors when their display is calibrated.

I agree...it DOES matter what color they are. Most every game I've played, the Germans are either black or grey, soviets brown or red, UK tan, French blue, etc. None of this has to be set in stone, but I say follow the precedent.

I agree this discussion is hilarious. But seriously, if those counters aren't brown, I'm not buying the game.[8D]
