confusion about the method for repairing Sync Bug

My opponant and i had a sync bug running from the first turn of our PBEM (we are only on the 7th turn, and no big differences occur in the result yet).
In order to repair this bug, i've send him the Pompack method (because as he is the jap player, it depend of him). But he asked for clarification on a simple point:
should he turn OFF the "combat report" or the "combat summaries" ?
I know it is said in the "must read thread" that it is the "combat report", but still his
question is raising a doubt for me too.
Could some gentlemens of this forum clarifie this?
Thanks in advance

as per note in the WAR ROOM - i THINK it is combat summaries, since you watch the animations (and take notes!)
