Getting Irked at Movement

I have a Confederate force in Neutral Lebanon Kentucky for over a year historical time and it just can't move out of there. What is going on? It is an infantry brigade with a leader. In exasperation I converted the unit to a cavalry unit, then added a cavalry leader and it still can't move out. This is ridiculous.
Lebanon is not surrounded by Union units and there are several exit routes and yet it still can't move. I like this game a lot, but the 'movement' system is very suspicious and I don't trust it.

I share your frustration.
But, the South should be happy with the sluggish movement rules. It keeps the blue-bellied swine from swarming all over Southern territory with their unmanly, illiterate, shop-keeping degenerates. (A shameless attempt to pick a posting duel with some yankee slob. [:D])
Seriously, though, I think that there should be some way to move a unit like that. Ira B. Hardy's (sp?) WBTS game had a mechanisim that gave each side a small number automatic movement orders. Maybe GGWBTS should too, as long as you're not moving into enemy territory, or something.
Oh, and just kidding about the yankees, guys. They're not unmanly. [:)]

No doubt about it, the movement rules can be a pain at times.
Having a unit with a leader alone will not automatically give you the necessary movement points to move. The leader would also need to have initiative.
Also, check the terrain both within the region you occupy, as well as the region you wish to move to. If you are moving from a forested region to a mountainous one, you will need a sufficient number of movement points based on the terrain modifiers.
I don't have the manual in front of me, but I believe the movement rules take into consideration the terrain of the region you are moving to in calculating the number of movement points. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

I'm suprised that a cavalry unit with cavalry leader cannot move. That is 4 MP minimum I believe (although I could be mistaken). Are you out of supply there?

I assume your wanting to move into enemy territory not move to friendly territory?
