I'm starting this thread to condense ideas. We'll keep better track of them. In it we'll answer if it was considered before and rejected, if it's in the works, or we'll consider it...

RE: Defensive Front Scripting

not knowing how the AI defends cities of strategic importance, are there scripts in place (or could there be?) that could organize a new front HQ (i.e a Stalingrad front and create a defensive front automatically to defend key defensive points)- Volga crossings, etc..

As it is now Fronts auto change names as historical. Joel or Pavel may better answer this question...

Are there triggers (such as loss of capital) for allies such as Finland, Romania, Hungary, Italy surrendering and their troops leaving user or AI control?

will the Finnish troops attack beyond their territory?  perhaps the fall of Leningrad would turn them neutral?  I don't believe they would have marched on Moscow if they had the chance

From the old, old days - I believe the Finns were extremely limited in their ability to advance (from Eastern Front) until Leningrad fell. Logistically, the Kola/Northern Russian area was very hard to supply, with few rail links - so advances in that area were difficult regardless.

So, what's the deal with the Finns?

The Fins can attack past their territory once the Germans have capture Leningrad.

The Finns are only allowed to advance to historical locations (unless the Soviets leave it undefended) and are not allowed to attack Leningrad from the north. Once the Germans take Leningrad they still can go only so far south and east...

Long-time WIR player and can't wait for the new game.

Any chance there could be a penalty if Romanian and Hungarian units are near each other? The Germans had to keep them separated.

I believe that they can't be in the same stack, I'll check. I never tried it...If not I'll post the idea in our forum...

Suggestion:

A hot key draws a coloured line which shows the max point, the Finns can advance to, if Leningrad has not fallen.

Press the hot key a second time and it drawns a line which shows the max point, Finns can advance to, if Leningrad has fallen.

Press the hot key again and the line is removed from the map.

This hot key should be available to both players.

Another neat hotkey could draw a line on the map which shows the historical frontline at that date. Makes it easy for both players to see how they are doing compared to their historical counterparts.

Theres really no need for a hot key for the extent the Finns can go, it is easy to know the first time you play and will be in the rule book.

As far as a historical timeline hot key that would really take to much time to create. We have bigger fish to fry...

Actually, the Axis allied lines will appear on the final map (should be screened back so as to be subtle and not overwhelm the map).

I know this suggestion might be unusual but can we have an option to control production ourselves ? [:D]

Other than that, one idea might be to have Easter Eggs that occur if certain VP points are reached.  My suggestion would be to turn Tiger tanks into fluffy white bunnies for a turn or two.

Would it be possible to let the AI play both sides and just watch ? Will the AI be moddable or accessible in any way ?

Right now we play AI vs. AI for testing. I would think they would leave it in.

Chance of Ukraine Divisions on Axis side ( if they could ever have been nice to them ) ?? In one book I read ( cannot remember where or when ) the Ukraine Govt offered 20 Divisions but it never came to anything ??

I assume you have cosacks on axis side plus Baltic states troops, Croatians etc ?

Do partisans get more powerful if the player does not allocate troops to contain them? Once a hex is in partisan control does it stay until a unit occupies it? It would be interesting to see their area of control expand and even units appear and supply level improve if left alone too long
