IIRC it indicates they were flying at extended range.

Hmmm...how comes the Kates are dropping bombs on your attack in Davao. I remember reading that torpedoes can be carried or not carried. So is the default setting for torpedo planes to carry bombs?

Also what is up with the Nates flying everywhere in AE. Where did all your Oscars go?

One last question...I noticed that in my game the IJN Zeroes are not dishing out as much pain as before to the Allied CAP, have you noticed your IJN fighters being nerfed by P-40s?

The OOB is more accurate than stock.  The IJA had some Oscars at the beginning of the war, but many units were still flying Nates.

There is no more Zero bonus.  However most Allied pilots have dreadful experience numbers at start.  I've found Zeroes are still pretty potent early on.

I see. Thanks for the info. But I feel that my Zeroes are getting blasted by the P-40s. I am seeing alot higher Zero losses in the air now. But then again the IJ pilot reserve is a lot bigger too than before.

In my game, the Tennessee was hit by 1 bomb and was sunk. Must have hit some sort of Death Star vent.

An intact Force Z is really complicating my plans...the vulnerability of merchies also presents a problem in the China Sea as I have to account for the HK destroyers.

Ahh well...100 days to take the SRA and 1500 turns to survive...we'll just take it slow.

I think I have everything ordered i want ordered...but I know i overlooked many many things...I'll give it a once over in the morning then send it to Przemek.

I suspect he will need some time to respond...

Well the second day of the war was rather uneventful....

The most signficant action of the day as feared the three Britsh DD's from HK made their presence known in the China Sea. In a running battle over three hexes the British exchanged shots with one of my CL's and 4 DD's and inflicted some serious damage on one of the DD's in exchange for a glancing shot the apparently inflicted no damage.

Betty's out of Takao sank half of the HK merchant fleet as it fled south.

In the Phillippines, IJN aviators began sweeping the skies over Clark. Catalinas and B-17s from the southern PI attacked my convoys moving towards the northern PI.

In Malaya, Force Z went into hiding...have to be particularly careful with how I proceed and ensure that i have air and BB coverage for any serious moves.

Over Wake the defending marine Avaitors were on full alert and inflicted serious damage on a follow-up raid by some of my Nells.

A small engagement in China pushing the Chinese out of Pengpu.

The next few days will be relatively quiet as I ramp up operations and reposition units for later offensives...

Days 3 and 4 have started heating up...

US subs have sunk several transports off the north coast of the PI. Unfortunately both transports carrying the 48th JAAF AF Bn were sunk...[:(]

PT Boats also accounted for another transport...although one of my Cruiser TF dispatched two of the pests...still haven't figured out the best counter tactic to the boats...

Prz...must be reading the forums as he dispatched Pensacola and Louisville to Tarawa. Fortunately the LCU took the island on day 3...day 4 the TF was wiped out.

A SNLF Co. has landed on Guam...

A SNLF has landed at Ternate....

On a cheery note Baker Island now flies the flag of the Emperor.

Days 5 and 6 -

Japanese have seized the anchorage at Ternate.

Japanese are ashore in force on the north coast of the PI. Landings also took place at Mauban and Legaspi.

Paratroopers seized the port and airfield at Tay-tay and an observation post has been established.

After Prepatory Bombardments by 2 CLs and then 4 CA's the following day...an attempted landing on Wake met with disaster...remanants of the landing force were evacuated.

An initial attack at Guam repulsed the SNLF Coy tasked with seizing the port, reinforcements are enroute.

Elsewhere units are being shifted too and fro...

Guess I need to do an update...

Things are not going well...well thats a bit pessimisstic.

Days 7-11

I got a bit pre-occupied with the PT menace and it cost me dearly...I had a bunch of Nells shot down unescorted over the PI trying to launch torpedos at PT Boats. I forgot to switch their loadout from torp to bomb. In any event I've decide to run constant sweeps in the PI over Clark and Manila until I can build my airfields up to run mass Sally strikes on those two bases. the following days sweep were quite successful and i downed a number of his fighters. On the next day i encountered no fighters so presumably he has stopped flying CAP...thus opening the way for my bombers to hit the airbases.

On the ground in the PI I have seized Tug. and paratroopers landed at Bayom. A stiff counterattack supported by B-17's at Bayom. drove the paras back towrd Tug.. I have also landed at Legaspi and seized Naga. I have also landed at Mauban and advanced across the island to attack Battangas. Prz seems to be trying to organize a defence away from Bataan. A major invasion force is now enroute and hopefully will be able to catch Prz's forces out of position.

On Mindanao the 65th brigade has landed at Cagayan. Hopefully tomorrow morning i'll awake to see the base captured.

I've landed on Miri and Brunei and set up an advanced airfield to cover my advance on Kuching. The PoW and Repulse way heavily on my thoughts. My subs encountered two separate Allied minelayers near Kuching so i sent a couple of destroyer minesweepers to begin clering the mines from Kuching. The second night they were there, they were attacked by a large Allied force including the PoW and Repulse. The ensuing day my Betties and Nells once again missed the mark and I lost another opportunity to sink the british ships.

In Malaya I have a serious chance of cutting off a signifcant portion of the Allied army. Prz's brigades at Alor Star already diverted into the jungle east of Alor Star. I presume he had issued order s to move to Taiping or another base to the south. The problem he had was that the 42nd Infantry Regt...cut across the peninsula and occupied the crossroad just south of Alor Star before his units could arrive. Since his units had plotted a course to a distant base the plot was shifted to take his units east to avoid my road block. Unfortunately he did not reset his orders to enter the road block hex. While all of this was going on JAAF units have been pounding the two brigades no doubt slowing his advance to a crawl.

Nothing going on on the Burma front at the moment.

Guam finally fell after the SNLF Co. was reinforced by a Base Force.

Wake has been hit hard for three consecutive days by KB. My initial invasion failed...but it may have been bug related. I hit wake with two CL's, then the next day 4 CA's shelled the island, then the SNLF landed and was creamed in the landing. Fortunately i was able to evac a significant portion of the SNLF and will try again in a couple weeks. Next time I will bring KB enmass and prep with air bombardment and significant surface bombardment before landing.

South pacific remains quiet as I marshal forces for the drive south.
