I'm a newby, and after reading the first few pages of the manual it recommends that you play the tutorial, which is installed on your hard drive. I looked in the War in the Pacific folder, but I can't find the tutorial. Any suggestions? I looked in every folder, including manuals, extras, docs, etc. Where is it?

Unfortunately, that tutorial was removed shortly before release as it was out of date and couldn't be updated in time. The manual was already completed, so it's still mentioned there. The tutorial is being updated and will be included in one of the post-release updates.

I would suggest playing the smaller scenarios first, they can be played relatively quickly, and still let you explore most aspects of the game.

Will the tutorial be in the form of a patch with it's own purpose built scenario to role play situations as in WITP. I cannot imagine a pdf file being much use to a complete novice and it would be a real shame to let people be put off by the complexity of AE.

Then they should have played WiTp first. people were warned this wasn't a user friendly kind of game. To get the most out of AE you have to work at it. Matrix was raked over the coals for trying to tell people this wasn't an easy game and people should try WiTp first.[:'(]
