That's Working As Designed (WAD). Minelayers (CM, CMc) have # of mines in the Ammo field. See the 2199 configuration of Hatsutaka Class.

Auxilary minelayers have # of mines in the armor field. This would apply to the 2200 E (Escort) version of the Hatsutake Class.

Why it is important to have mines for Aux minelayers listed in the armor slot, I do not know. I can tell you the 'what' . . . someone from the naval team will have to add the 'why'.

I'm guessing the why is that you have to sacrifice your ASW to load the mines. Makes sense.

Nope. It's because that's the way the code works.

Read the Manual. Section 6.6.1.3 Mine Armament is quite interesting. You have regular minelayers with mines in the ammo field. You also have "special" minelayers with mines in the armor field. Read the Manual.

Trust me I'm trying. Poor eyesight is making it harder than it should be.
