Well, my parents where on board with getting me this game until they saw the $100 price tag...

Being a teenager who relies on my parents to get me these wargames how am I suppose to convince my parents to pay $100 for this?

With the sale only being for original WitP owners, I'm dead in the water.[:(]

There is this wonderful thing called a job...maybe you should look into it.

Mow one more lawn and AE is all yours.

This is not a game, it is a history lesson. Tell them it is a educational program that will make you smarter and get you grades up

Well I guess it depends on how much they do for you...

How many games have they bought you in the past 6 months? How long do you play a computer game before it's shelved? You should try to compromise when it comes to the price tag.

I've saved 10 Euro each month since Dec 2007.
With the discount for WitP owners and the rest i will take the wife for dinner [8D]

Have your folks buy you the discounted original right now. Then wait a few months, play some WiTP, start saving some cash, then buy AE with the WiTP owner discount before the three month period ends.

Being 16, I have no idea where I could work, but I'm going to have to look because to be honest I hate relying on other people even if they are my parents.[8|] I agree with JJAX on this one.I do all my chores for free, so a real-Job is the only way.

EDIT:Donkey_roxor may have something there.I can see if I can get the original....

If your parents were onboard with it before knowing it was more than a typical game they must have been willing to contribute something...

Anyway, at 16 there should be no lack of various jobs you can get to make a little cash.

V22, when I was your age I had a summer job with the Youth Conservation Corps here in Illinois...uh, unfortuately, it seems that your state, already a pioneer in being lame by criminalizing hedgehog ownership, has an age minimum of 18 for the CCC. That's a shame, since I think it was a pretty good experience for me.
 
That being said, even with the recession, there are probably a few horrific teenager-oriented jobs around in sunny California. It's commendable you'd rather your parents didn't pay for the game, and the good news is, even the worst minimum-wage job you can find should easily give you enough scratch to buy AE in no time flat.

I hope you can find a way to scrape together the money. I've learned more from WITP than from any other game I've played.

Really? So how much do they charge you for your clothing, room and board? Wait till it's your turn to pay for those things, and your kids claim they do their chores for free. [;)]

A good way to earn money fast is to ask your dad if you can use the lawn mower to go around the neighborhood and mow lawns for $10.00 or $20.00 each. If enough people need their lawns mowed, you'll have all the money you need in one day, but no doubt within a week for sure if you're determined about finding customers for your offered services.

Start off with $20.00 per lawn (front yard and back), but be willing to drop that price if they initially balk. After all, if they are listening to you, they might be interested, so deal and bargain, don't just give up the first time they say no thanks.

But getting a regular job at your age will mean you have a lot more freedom in your final years living at home. If you save most of your money, you may even be able to afford your first car by the time college rolls around.

Teach your parents a lesson about how computer savy you really are ......

Swipe some of their stuff and sell it on Ebay!

This is going to come off as very mean spirited but these are lessons in life that you need to take forward with you as you grow into an adult. You get nothing for nothing. You don't get what you can't afford. Saving for something makes you appreciate the thing more. If having the game means that much too you, you will find a way to obtain it sooner or later. It is very unbecoming to whine about something this trivial as a game. Get some cajones kid.

I was a little harsh. Honestly, my parents bought me my fair share of games when I lived with them. Maybe I am a little cranky because now I have to buy my own games and pay my own bills [:o] .

I delivered newspapers for four years, starting in 6th grade. When I was done, I had $0 save. I spent every penny I earned on models and wargames. It was the only spending money I had, we were poor so my parents weren't going to kick in anything.

Well....my mom agreed if my dad would pay half, I pay whatever I have in my wallet, and mom will pay for any difference.....so fingers crossed if my dad agrees.[X(] After going through all this trouble, I can never ask for a game from my parents as long as I live.....better start read the newspaper for a job.[:D]

If you don't own the original WITP, have you at least played it? What it's "worth" depends on who you are. If you have played and loved WITP (quite a commitment), then $100 for AE is not too crazy. But if you haven't, how can you be sure this is what you want?

Actually, I see from another thread that you have played WPO. Same principle applies, I guess: are you "madly in love" with it?

(That being said, $100 is a lot of money, even for a Matrix wargame.)

Invite them onto this fine forum. You may able to get them to give you $100.00 for the game as long as you stay away from the forum.

Well War Plan Orange was a great game, but that lack of aircraft and aircraft carriers kind of annoyed.Plus I didn't know much about WPO's time frame so half the time I didn't know what to put what with what.I figured WitP should be a much more fun game because I can re-create the battles I know about, and thats during WWII.The problem with WPO is what I said above was the lack of air power and air carriers.It was basicly WitP sea and land-only style.
