designing new map

I relize that I am new to this, I really enjoy AE. But after reading the manual on the editor I relize that there is nothing in it about building a new may, ex - midway area or the Japanese mainland with out having to use the whole Pasific map.

Can someone please tell me how to do this?

You do it int he editor on the scneario tab by specifying coo ordinates

So you're not really "designing a new map", but using a smaller portion of the old one, by choosing the x,y coordinates of the top left and bottom right corners or a box. When you select the coordinates, do yourself the favour of adding a few more hex columns than you think you'll need; that way, you won't suddenly have that base you MUST HAVE be off map.

Is there a way to edit the now called pwhexe.dat (ex pwhex.dat) so I can edit individual hexes, their type, roads, etc....?
That way we could Mod using a completely different map...[;)]
