The Ukraine

Early June 1943 Barbarossa as the Russians. I'm pushing the Axis back west but the Ukraine is shown as a separate country, i.e., owned by and controlled by the Ukraine. As a result, I cannot cross over the boundary to get to Kiev. Additionally, I think that the Germans are in the Ukraine and cross into Russia.

Did I miss an event here that made the Ukraine a separate country (when the Axis pushed me out); and what do I need to do to get it back under the Soviets?

Silly question : Have you declared war on the Ukraine? If you can?

Yeah, I thought the same. But I checked the diplomacy screen and The Ukraine is not shown as a separate country[&:]. The Germans can sure come across the Ukrainian border [:@].

Did you look in the middle of the Med? Because that's where the Ukraine diplo box shows up...[:D]

Thanks..I now see the Ukraine diplo box. However, the "Declare War" box is grayed out and the tool tip says that the Ukraine is a member of the Axis alliance. Tool tip says that I have to declare war on the alliance leader (Germany) [&:].

I am at war w/ the alliance leader so something is not working as designed .

BTW, unlike the other Axis alliance members, the Ukraine diplo box shows them at war only w/ the USA and not the USSR nor Great Britain.

FYI..I also cannot declare war on the Finns for the same Ukranian reasons. The Finns are sitting in Vyborg (controlled by Germany and owned by the USSR) and part of the Axis in September 1944. But diplo box for delaring war is grayed out; and says I need to declare war on Germany first.

I can't attack the Finns and recover Vyborg.

We are also aware of this issue, and it has been addressed for the patch.

The best what you can do is to go to your save game folder and open relations.csv file and change the 0 to 1, in cells, where column and line between USSR and Finland are crossing
