Totally fake. Speer was talked to by scientists about the possibility of making a bomb and the requirements and pretty much laughed out loud. People have no idea of the immense amount of people time and money the atomic bomb cost the US.
 
Some people also get confused between a " dirty " bomb and a real atomic weapon. Their was talk of using a dirty bomb as the payload for the Amerika bomber project but it was a long way from reality.  

So their claims of finding cobalt 60, cadmium & plutonium on Rugen are false? I need to investigate this further. [:D]

All the "evidence" presented in the video's is, to say the least, highly circumstantial.

Besides that, the program is riddled with technical errors. For example, how exactly does an A-Bomb make a thermonuclear (fusion) explosion? Aren't A-bombs, by definition, fission?

Without presenting any hard data, it's just another crackpot conspiracy theory, like faked Apollo moon landings, alien spaceships at Roswell, or 911 being committed by a branch of the US Govt.

That's close to being right -- there was a very brave raid at Telemark, which has been the subject of a movie and a TV story by Charles Kuralt. But the story didn't quite end there. The Nazis decided to move the rest of their gear to a safer place, but British intelligence found out about it. A bomb planted on the ferry sank it and the vital equipment to the bottom of a fjord. After that the Nazis pretty much threw in the towel. (And if we'd known that, the Manhattan Project might have been halted or slowed considerably.)

well, for one thing, the Americans only had the two bombs. They did not have another one available after "little boy" It would have been another month before another one would be available. Basically, the Americans gambled that the two would end the war once and for all, and it worked! Little known fact

Are you insinuating something here? You cant tell me that the spaceship that crashed at Roswell was a fake because somebody built it and I dont think it was the Soviets or the Nazi-Hell Creatures from the center of the earth! [:'(]

Uh, right, it had nothing with attitudes about the Pearl Harbor attack, or the large casualties taken at Iwo Jima and Okinawa and the fear of even larger casualties during an invasion of the Japan... it was all because of race. GMAB.

If Germany had been an island, and we were looking at hundreds of thousands of casualties for an 'invasion', we would have nuked Berlin ASAP. Hell, we had already done almost that much with the fire bombing of German cities. Lucky for everyone, Germany collapsed in '45 and couldnt make an effective defense of the homeland. But Japan could have, and was planning to do just that.

Back to topic. (I hate racebaiting drifts such as those posted above). [8|] Does anyone here have any more information on this test? Perhaps archives that were opened after East Germany ended? I need more info.

Heisenberg constantly overestimated the total quantity of material needed for a bomb - which, in turn, discouraged further resources being put into the program.

Absolutely, if Germany was still holding out when the first bomb was ready, we would have hit Berlin (or some other suitable target in Germany - given how much of Berlin was wasted by the regular strategic bombing campaign). It had nothing to do about the actual target, as it did about timing. We were always more afraid of Germany than Japan.

I don't think the atom bomb would have been dropped on Berlin because ironically the nuclear technology the Germans had been working on was eagerily sought by the enemy.  That reason and the lack of additional ready bombs, were probably the only deterrants to the bomb being dropped on the battered civilians of Berlin.

The Japanese did indeed have an atom bomb project, but they couldn't afford to put in the massive resources that the U.S. committed to the Manhattan Project. (For that matter, I don't think anybody else could have.) At a wild guess, the Japanese program would have taken at least another ten years to produce a working weapon.
