I made somes tests to see how fast could be a training mission on map.

So, i gave an average exp of 10 to 2 fighter groups.

The first one with an "escort" training at 100%.
The second with an "sweep" training at 100%.

After 10 days, both reach an airskill of 50 [X(]
After 15 days (from the beginning), both reach an airskill of 60
After 20 days, both reach an airskill of 67.
After that, it seems that airskill doesn't managed to go through exp 70 gate.

It is really too fast.

In one year in pilot schools, pilots gain about 30 points in exp in every domain.
But here, in 1 month, rookies pilots (exp 10) became good pilots (exp 70) in 1 domain.

So, what is the interest of pilot school except that it doesn't require any plane and any air groups?

They could gain more than 30 depending on the quality of the instructor no?
That pilot school trains them in every domain without having to micromanage them and use up operational squadrons I see as plus compared to on-map.

On-map would be preferred for a quick fix or sudden need for many sorties of a specific type.

In my experience it is nowhere near that fast.
It takes about two months to get from average 35 to average 60. Talking about actual experience here.

I keep them on general training for first month, then switch to the skill needed most by the type.

Somehow having fighter pilot with air skill of 65-70 and all others on 5-10 looks very wrong to me so I don't do it.

Well, you have cheated by creating low xp groups, the system is made around pilots graduating in a year, and then being trained in the group's function. And remember that you also need to raise your pilot's defense skill.

I did test on Guadalcanal scenario. I suppose the features are the same in GC scenario.
