So you are in Canberra huh? Well you will be pleased to know that there will be a group for this forum gathering for a face to face meet in Canberra next year......current planning date is the the ANZAC long weekend 2003 which I am organizing. Apart from sitting around and telling lies with the help of a few ales, we also plan on going to the AWM. Should be a good weekend. Look forward to seeing you there.

Yeah last went about 3 to 4 years ago.....I understand that there have been a few changes since then. So you will be in Melb...well you will have to give us a buzz and let me know when.....there are a few of us in Melb and it would be a great excuse to get together. I know that Super and Tex Zero will be up for it, and Jody is still pissed about missing out on the last one! The Australian Sim Tech Conferance???? is that open to the public? Sounds interesting.

The Conference (SIMTECT2002) runs from the 13-16 May at the Convention centre. Maybe Mon or Tue night, Wed is the conference dinner.
The conference is about using simulation devices (including wargames, flight simulations etc) and the issues that go with it, like geospatial information, user interfaces, networking protocols.
Its not normally open for visitors but if you work in the city and can get there one afternoon I can get probably get you in to look at the displays , Lockhead Martin, Boeing, TENIX, CSC all have good displays

.
I belong to a small organisation called the Australian Defence Simulation office (after 12 years in the Army I couldn't get a proper job so went to work as a civvie in Defence!). We write policy, and I look after joint simulation (mainly constructive wargames) policy, coordinationa and colaboration. One of my current tasks is evaluating commercial wargames for military training ( as examples we are seriously looking at Harpoon3, Tacops, Armoured Task Force and Decisive Action). Games like UV and PacWar are useful for giving historical perspectives.
Well thats enough of a ramble for now
Cheers

Looking at H3? eh? See my thread about H4 in the wargaming section.....great game, bloody great game!
Send a Private message for for more info as to where and when we can hook-up.
