What is the use of HDLM UK class ships? can only be put in a support or escort TF and they have a very valuable (in the early turns) ASW capability: work as intended or bug?

Can also be used in 'Support' (But I don't know what this means)

Well, I would think that Support TFs would be those that contained support ships. You know, like AS, AKE, AE, Av, etc. Now, look at the HDMLs, they have a lot of ASW. Maybe you could use them to help protect your valuable support ships from subs. [:)]

Well, as a wider term, 'port support' (I was hoping this might be some kind of catchall mission) Hell, I don't know what the damn things are for.

I have used them for ASW work within several hexes of a major port (Karachi, Colombo, Diamond Harbor, etc.). I have also given the same mission to USN YPs off the West coast and they actually damaged an I-boat a couple of days ago (I am playing Japanese AI and have gotten to July 42). No luck so far for the HMDLs, but the I-Boats dont seem to have paid as much attention to Ceylon, India, and Pakistan (yet). No HDMLs for Canada, so I use KVs for that mission. They are the most effective of the lot.

Hi Historyguy - Do you mean just running them (HDML) at a sub? They can't be selected for ASW.....
