What does it take to get the US in the war?

In both my games as the Germans the United States does has not entered the war against the Axis. I have had the script where I am asked to join the Tripartite and I do, so it seems it would make sense that the U.S. would have some sort of Pearl Harbor event and declare war. Is there a percentage chance they just sit the war out?
Thanks
John

Well all the allies have left is Gibraltar and I can't take it because 1.) paratroops can't reach it 2.) Amphibious landings wont work since its not considered a coastal hex. In order to take Gibraltar you need Spain on your side and G.B just counters your exert pressure option on Spain so you need to be very lucky to get Spain on the side of the Axis. I would fix the Gibraltar problem by making it 2 hexes, much like the Malta hex.
No reason to declare war on the US since it would make more a headache for me.
I think the US should intervene at some point, even if its just the commitern left

roger, but that is the point, with out a England, the US is not going to go to war (don't know about events or coding)
after Poland and the Winter War, the taking of the Baltic states, the US would not of gone to war over Russia
you know, by you trying to get Spain to join and England trying to counter you, you may be stopping England from getting the US to join ?

ATM, at some point (after Pearl Harbor), US declares war on Germany.
