The accuracy of all US pre radar guidance guns seems high compared to British and IJN guns. eg the 1941 pre radar 5"/38 guns are the most accurate guns in AE of all calibers by at least 20%. Not bad for a 1934 gun.

eg
5"/38 Mk12 (and Mk 22) have a 200 accuracy . compare others QF 4"/45 at 100-150 ,40mm Bofors at 160, the IJN 3.9/65 at 150 , 75mm -88mm AA at 160.
Also 6"/47 Mk 16 75 accuracy

I dont see any early war encounters or specification that justify such high numbers. Except for an obviously "independent" USN best in middle class document.

Note that "accuracy" also includes other factors in game, it is not only gun accuracy per se. I know that for example Rate of Fire is included and likely lot other things. So accuracy number is combination of values, based on formula. Unfortunately Matrix/2by3 or Henderson Field are not going to publish formulas used, as far as I know.

Both the Bofor and 3.9/65 had significantly higher ROF and Gun accuracy . So it gets down to fire directors etc .. Yet a 1941 gun will be no where near as accurate as 44 gun ( with Mk 33 Director + Radar) yet the 41-42 value is the most important. The 3.9/65 For example was noted as "Though designed as AA weapons, their high rate of fire and range of 20,000 yards made them at least the equal of their American 5" counterparts" . How is this possible with a lower AE accuracy AND significantly lower shell weight ? Even if the accuracy was the same the 3.9" would do about 60% of the damage.

I think we are seeing this value ( especially the 6.1") bringing broken results in AE which were hidden by the low US experience in WITP.

It'd be difficult to draw any conclusions without knowing what values are reflected in "accuracy".

Unfortunately, the "net" accuracy wasn't always a case of what a device was "capable" of, but rather how well the crew made use of it .... And the early US surface vessels did take an early beating in most encounters, though that was also influenced by other factors .... So, It depends .....

Once you get into how well the crew performs on the weapon you get into fudge factors and out of the realm of formulas. eg 41 and 45 performance of the same weapon will be VERY different and this SHOULD be represented by experience.
