Japanese Invasions

We all know that the Japanese get a bonus of 1200 load points to their xAPs and xAKs in Amphib TFs for the first 4 months of the war. This is in addition to the 250 they automatically get, giving us 1450 load points per turn unloaded. The idea is to unload as fast as possible, of course. Last night it dawned on me that the small xAKs suddenly become very valuable for these invasions.
The To'su and Kiso-E classes can unload in one day and the Daigen, Kasu-D, Miyati and Gozan classes can unload in 2 days. This can be very important in keeping up the optempo to keep the Allied player off balance.
To me, this reinforces the idea that the fast xAKs should be used in the interior between hubs and destinations while the slower (and in this case, smaller) xAKs be used on the fringe.

I would have to agree - it does make sense. Especially in dangerous landing areas where you cannot easy project fighter cover against allied air power. I know in my PBeM my slow unloading times cost me several ships in the Philippines due to the fact that it is nearly impossible to provide any air cover over your invasion transports. My opponent (Rob) was using P-40s on naval attack and strafing the hell out of them.

In addition, the loss of the smaller types is less onerous than the loss of the big, fast ones...especially xAKs.
