PBEM set-up

I've never played a PBEM game and I have a question.

When starting a game of AE there are choices to be made in three categories before selecting a scenario: 1) Realism Options, 2) Game Options, 3) Preferences.

When starting a PBEM game do all settings in all three categories have to be the same for both players? I realize that the choices in "Realism Options" would have to be the same for both players, but is there any reason the settings in "Game Options" and "Preferences" couldn't be different for each player as they prefer?

For instance, is there any reason my opponenet needs to know if I have selected Auto Sub Ops or not? Or set all my bases to expand or not? [&:]

Thanks for your help.

Whatever the Japanese player uses for Realism and Options settings will be is used in the PBEM. It does not matter what the Allied player has set as the settings will be controled by the <save> file.

All settings for Realism and Options settings should be agreed upon between both opponents in advance of starting the game.

I would recommend "No Replacements"..."No upgrades"...and "No construction" at start. it is easy enough to globally change these once the game starts if desired.

So you're saying all the settings on the "Game Options" screen have to be the same for both players?? That sucks. Each player should be allowed to make their own choices. So if "Auto Sub Ops" is selected both the Allies and the Japs will have to use it? Don't like this at all. ;(( [:-][:-][:-]
