Combat in Manila, most allied forces already 30+ nm combat moving towards clark field with green hexside. Jap shock attack and ALL units retreat toward empty base Mauban with 1 supply instead of Clark Field 1100 AV and 29000 supply.
Doesn't make much sense and could use some tweaking in retreat routines. For example retreat towards supply or where moving to.
Saves before and after combat attached.
On Second review, There is NO road path to Mauban either, so obviously not the easiest retreat path.

Same thing happened to me. Japanese forces entered Manila from NE and SW. Allied supply source was NW along road. Allied movement was NW along road. Retreat was to SE to Mauban without a road/trail.. Go figure. [&:]

While it does look at supply and friendly forces it also looks at enemy in the hex and during the retreat it tends to retreat away from the enemy.

Seems like there should be some consideration of miles traveled in a given direction.

Yes, that would certainly make sense. And increase playability.

Yes the japs were in the hex and I am not sure how hard to program but I thought the whole hexside loc was designed to allow movement between friendly hexes, now if your retreated you cannot. Provides a player a way to divide forces and puts us back to retreat as fast as you can to one base idea.
Thanks for all your work here still much improved.

And so it does for normal LCU movement. Your example is but one of many varients. Kota Bharu is a prime example where pure logic does not seem to work.
