Cheers, so im assuming that if it takes two days to pack/unpack it will not start to load until then?

...and one more if i may. when setting the search arc on the map does the left click button indicate the opening or closing of the arc? eg if i set a 290(left) to 90(right) search arc planes will search clockwise, ie 270-0-90, as opposed to anti-clockwise, ie 90-180-270?

Thanks again

Set unit to Strat
Set Trans. TF to Load
AFTER Packing delay , TF will commence loading.

-------

Arcs are always Clockwise.

Left Click Starts Arc - Right Click Ends Arc.

Clockwise.

And the process is as follows. Your planes are searching in the morning in the first half of your arc, and in the afternoon in the second half, so that in the second half the (afternoon) detections can not be attacked in the afternoon whereas the morning detections can be attacked during the afternoon.

Also, if you have 5 planes searching in your HALF arc of x degrees the first is considered to search in the first fifth of these x degrees the second in the second x/5 degrees and so on... Likewise for x/y subarcs where y is your number of searching planes. The probability of detecting an occupied hex crossed by eaach plane depends also on various conditions and on the search radius. Putting the 000-000 direction stands for "every direction" and it seems that the probability of detection for each plane is more abstract in that case - I'm not sure.

My advise in case of several air units in search mode is to make sure that each interesting half arc is explored in the morning, whence give them different directions accordingly, even if the afternoon half arc is not an interesting one for some of them. In case of a single unit then maybe a wise choice could be to shorten the radius and keep the 000-000 "all directions" mode to maximize the probability of detecting close or mild close TFs.

Oops I reread just now the former explaination of Treespider and I realize that I had the bad thing in top of my head (I forgot the 10 degrees constraints). So for a better understanding I copy here this very useful explaination :

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If you set your search arc 0 to 0 you search all 360 degrees but with PENALTIES.

If you set your search arc smaller than 360 degrees then each individual plane will only search a 10 degree arc in each phase - morning and afternoon.

So If I have 6 planes searching... and i want to search 0 to 180.... I can't....as I can't cover everything unless I set the unit to search 360.

However IF I do set the unit to search the arc 0 to 180 this is what happens:

In the morning -

Plane 1 searches 0-10
Plane 2 searches 10-20
etc etc
Plane 6 searchs 50-60.

Then in the afternoon -

Plane 1 searches 60-70
Plane 2 searches 70-80
etc etc
Plane 6 searches 110-120

So with six planes from a unit searching I can search 120 degrees in a given day but only 60 degrees in each phase....or I can have the planes search 360 degrees with penalties.

EDIT : IF you have more planes than arcs - each arc is given one plane, then the first arc is given two, and the second two etc...until all of the planes have been assigned.

EDIT EDIT : This only applies to searches of greater than 4 hexes.

prior to completely loading you will see a partial load and a comment to indicate it will load shortly.

amphib is combat mode to load.

Thanks
You can use WitpStaff to see the arc of coverage. That is how I discovered that I was searching for the Yeti near Darjeeling with my planes in Calcutta and not the Yellow Peril.
