The supply convoys (show as CD ground units) that appear mostly at Cape Town but a couple of other ports as well & UK/US East coast sending down to Panama seem to be the way I'm going.

Capetown for supply, Abadan for oil. In my first PBEM, I got to March and was able to adequately supply India and Perth from these two locations.

Ah ha, that's what I was looking for. Thanks.

BTW, what are the CD units mentioned in one of the replies?

If you look in your ground unit reinforcements, you'll see several things like WS Convoy (there are other convoy type names) that are shown as a coastal defence unit (CD) that bring in supply/fuel/troop & tank devices for the pool. By looking at them, you'll see what you get into your supply/fuel/device replacement pools when they arrive & they withdraw a few days after they arrive.

Capetown for supply, Abadan for oil.

And the third member of the "triade" would be Aden for troops.

So send the AK to Capetown, the TK to Abadan and the AP to Aden!

I would also send some AK to Aden. You will need help transporting all the troops. I send some of the shorter legged variety (6000 endurance). In my first PBEM, in Feb, I had troops all dressed up and on the docks but not enough ships.

Hi jgs - I don't see anybody mentioning this, but be aware - India produces almost 5000 supply(1540 at Calcutta),Palembang 1020, Eastern Aus. 4055(1680 at Sydney, 1280 at Melbourne) PER DAY. (Thanks WipTStaff) When you consider that US/Canada combine for 9090(uncluding the east coast) These are not inconsiderable amounts. Given that the african/arabian offmaps produce NO supply, more so(I have set the off-map supply requirements to +25k, but haven't seen results yet) Palembang of course will be lost (if not get a better IJ opponent), and I'm not very far in yet, but India and Burma combined are burning only 654 per day(and even Burma is producing 340) and Aus as a whole only burning 404. Obviously demand is going to rise, but I think the early indication is stocks of supply will rise quicker for some time to come. My opinion is the primary issue will be oil.

I'm trying to understand these Capetown convoys. The first one just arrived on Dec. 17 and says it has 30 Merchant Ships and 1 Tanker. Do these go into a pool? I don't recall the pool containing ships. Or do they just start appearing in the Capetown port? Or did they dump all that supply into Capetown and now I have to send AK's to pick it up? This doesn't seem to be mentioned in the manual.

Are you saying that if we do not use them as soon as they arrive, those supplies/fuel/devices will be lost/leave?

Can you go into more detail about what is happening?

The devices go into the pool for you to draw from. Supply and fuel to the port.

What if the "devices" are merchant ships? Where do they go? Or are they just dumping supply in Cape Town?

They are just dumping the supply and will disappear in three days. [8D]

And remenber not spoling Aden of fuel, even a little CS: conv refueling from Abadan is advisable (I fumbled on this taking for granted all outmap bases generated both by themselves...[:(])
