How to access interior ressources?

One question I already had in witp:
What can one do, to ship ressources to the Home Islands if they are produced in a interior base? How to transport the ressources to a harbour?

The resources should automatically move to nearby ports.

Will Kuala Lumpur's resources move to Singapore now? That was one of my biggest peeves with Witp is I had to constantly ship stuff just a few hexes away.

My experience has shown that they do move - and they seem to move in greater amount over rail (like it should happen). But just because they do move around doesn't mean they will move enough to keep industry producing and such. You may need to help it along once in a while.
