It's dated 1945; and gets really really detailed, right down to individual ships in classes especially for the frankensteined Pre-War Battleship Fleet.

Part I Appendix B is particularly interesting, as it lists all the capacities of each individual AOR in the fleet. [X(]

Amazing what you can find being posted on the 'net these days! Seems to be potentially very useful for the programners ... and game designers in general.

The Saratoga is particularly interesting!

Nice links, thanks. While they don't mean much in the scope of things, do you think you can fined anything on the capacities of the YO oilers. They are not used in the official scenarios but it looks like Don B anticipates they will be in mods. I am wanting to used some in some of the West Coast ports in to ferry fuel. Example: Portland or Seattle to Astoria and Oak Harbor. The YO-65 class with is in the ship class data, looks a little shy on capacity but I don't want to bother JWE because he is currently up to his ass in alligators fielding all the important issues.

Well, there's alligators, and then there's alligators. [;)]

There were a bunch of different ones. About 25, or so, oldie-mouldies built from 1910 to 1918: YO-2 and YO-20 classes. Bunch of purchased self-propelled one-offs in there too. Then a ton of one-offs till the YO-65 came on line. We’re working on the 161’ YO 2s and 20s, and the 235’ one-offs in the YO-40 range, too.

Basic YO-65 specs are about 950 total DwT, on 1400t Dspl(fl), with 6,570bbl tank cap. Should max her out at about 800-850 Net Cargo DwT. Diesel, but only 500 horse – slug. 10 knots (11 if pushing the envelope).

District YO specs in the database are holding-pattern things. The YO-65 class will probably go to 800t liquid cap. What’s there now is for what was out-and-about in Manila, Pearl, & Guam, and the early stuff at Tulagi. This will likely end up as a different class. Don keeps beating on me for all the neat, old, stuff. Ciao.

Thanks for looking in JWE. As far as the AOs, that Part 1 Appendex B site in RyanC's post sure looks to have great new information but left me swimming in numbers and I also remember that it is an Internet site and remembered to look at them with a grain of salt.

Umm what? This is a direct transcription of the actual 1945 document issued to USN vessels for fuel consumption planning.

No issue here. Just was referring to some discussion about general Internet information (Wiki, private lists, etc) that JWE and I had on another thread.

Carry on sailor.

Dinna fash yoursel’, my friend. We were talking about how the good old ‘net doesn’t really seem to grasp the concept, with respect to referent tonnage valuations. I’m sure all Buck meant by “a grain of salt” was that one must evaluate the numbers in context.

Your data is just fine, but it has some terminology that is not at all familiar to folks that visit the ‘usual’ sites, and I’ve been trying to show folks how to look past the ‘advertising’ data and get to a practical reality.

Frankly, Ryan, the data that’s developed by your citation, is really sweet, and supports the out-of-our-butt, curve fit parametrics for AOs.

I think there might be some discussion about the meaning of this-and-that, but it looks like sweet stuff to me. Ciao.
