Japanese AI Production Feedback

This is not a bug report but just some observations on what the Japanese AI has done in the area of production for the first seven months of my Scen001 game. The game was started in baseline configuration and patched to v1083c at about March 42 game time. Note that I am assuming that the AI has to follow the same rules as a human player for the purposes of production

Observations (good, bad, and indifferent):

0. The AI pretty well kicked my butt around the map for the first four months, taking Singapore in January, totally destroying the Allied forces in Burma (reinforced) by March, taking SoPac to the L'ville-Efete line by March, taking Canton by March, and besieging PM from April on.

1. Oil, fuel and resources have been transported to the HI with no observable issues. All HI refineries, light industry and heavy industry are operating at capacity with no input shortages and comfortable stockpiles.

2. The AI is attempting to repair oil centers, resource centers, and refineries

3. The AI is mostly using small convoys (1-5 ships) for most oil, fuel and resource transport to the HI. Most tanker convoys are three tankers with two escorts but the bulk carriers seem to be mostly unescorted. They are succeeding so far but there have been a LOT of losses to submarines.

4. The Manchukuo Garrison is shown as 6807 with a required garrison of 8000 but the Soviets are not active

5. A6M2 produciton was increased to 419 and the pool built up to 2230 yet Ha35 engine production is only 180 per month with a total requirement of 1800 (obviously pool is zero)

Just a data point

I don't think the AI has to live by any restrictions and it is pointless to look at the AI side and make sense of production, pools, supply, HI or any other point of logistics. That and several other "AI" items are there to make the game more challenging to the human who can obviously take huge advantage of the AI's inability to think and react like a human and make special surprises.

Several comments on these boards are directed that the AI is "unfair". I am sorry but the AI plus bonuses are there so that we can have "fun" and be "challenged". If there are problems with some production line in PBEM then by all means debate it. If your talking about the AI its only there for "our enjoyment" so quit looking at the other side and play. [:D][:D]

Player feedback is always a good thing one would think.

What bothers me is not the AI production or replacement rates or whatever backareas stuff, but the AI not following any rules when it comes to frontline stuff. (like overstacking, support and such)

I agree feedback is good. But in this case the AI "bonuses" have been answered by the devs that they are there to help the AI produce a challenging game which many asked for. I think they know what the AI is capable of and don't need feedback on its bonuses. Maybe its bonehead moves might be more helpful.

I must agree that bonehead moves are most annoying problem with IA in this moment BUT..

One thing is a bonus or simplification that is ok (i.e. producing aircraft directly withouth taking motors in account, applying a bonus % of search for the lack of a human controlling search arcs, have no consideration for HQ support, considering all units as 50+ turns ready for its target, and so on…) and a very different one is breaking rules that allow it to make imposible things (ie blatantly cheating rules of reality) ….. No one would like (I hope!) an AI teleporting the KB at his will, but “little” things as basing 50 b-17 bombers in a level-1 airfield without any air support, or receiving resources when all merchant fleet is in the bottom of the ocean are also non-aceptable…

I really think this ones should be reported and avoided by the devs

To put a little off-topic example , I really liked “europa universalis” until in his second version in the middle of a campaign I saw the ENORMOUS army Ireland has recruited, I changed sides to give a try (I owned half Europe as Spaniard) and in the same turn Ireland entered bankruptcy seven times in a row, automatically licensing 95% of his army…), needless to say , that was last time I executed that game.
