Is my guad scenario broken?!

DL version of AE, un-patched

Just started a Guad campaign on the Japanese side, and at turn 2, part of the Ichiki detachment (IJA Rgt somethin') pops from nowhere in Tassafaronga... And actually, when I restart the scenario, they are really scheduled to arrive at Tassafaronga on turn 2... Dear Nick, is that somekind of scenario design choice to give the Japanese player an awkward advantage, or did my computer smoke weed?

I think it is to trick Japanese AI into supply runs to tass after allies take lunga and tulagi. But maybe I am wrong.

Aye, that I can accept if I am playing against a Jap AI, but not as the Japanese player against a US AI opponent...!
Did I miss a "human" version of the scenario or what?

In my game allies did some landings in Tass to get me out. I ve got 2nd div in and have them on run.. :)
Maybe it is on purpose to force player to invest in Guadalcanal heavily instead of another places that could be rewarding....

So did everyone playing Guadalcanal scenario so far, both against the AI and PBEM, had the bonus Ichiki detachment thing arriving on Tassafaronga even before the Allied invasion force is sighted? [&:]
Is this WAD? Because it seems so strange to me, thought I'd have read about that in the forum by now if it really was on purpose...!

Seems on purpose to me, as the JAP player doesnt have enough time to make a stand on the guadacanal island at all, as the allied player can probably land om Lunga and TASS at the same time, if he so wishes. (Don't know that for sure, playing JAP only ;). It will take at lease a few days loading troops, transporting them to Tass, onloading them etc. whilst a bunch of allied CV's are parked there. Guess it's a matter of balance.

It was definately on purpose in TF 1942, maybe Matrix just stole that scenario ;)

Tssssk! In TF1942 japanese troops would fall back to Tassafaronga only if Lunga was taken, remember young padawan!

Actually in TF1942 you could land on Aola too as the Allies if the japanese IA still owned Lunga... Damn good old memories...
