USN CPNAB, Engineer Unit Withdrawals.

As of December 22 the USN engineer units based on Wake, Johnston, Palmyra, Christmas, and Canton Islands have 191 days until they have to be withdrawn.

My questions are;

#1 is this to reflect an historical redeployment in control of these Islands from Navy to Army control?

#2 in the reinforcement schedule I cannot see a block of USN or USA base forces to replace these units, do have to find replacement units from existing base forces?

Thanks DP.

This has been asked before on the forums, and if I remember correctly from the answers given then, these units were civilian contractors building airfields to get an air link from the WC to Manilla. Naturally, plans were made to get these men out of the combat zones once the war began, thus the withdrawals. You will have to find and send over replacement units yourself.

Yeah, the civilian contractors eventually decide they've got better things to do than get shot at in a war, so they up and leave in early '42 for better paying jobs...

...Only to be drafted and sent back to the Pacific as SeaBees in many cases.

From existing base forces (or arriving reinforcements).
