Is Switzerland in any way simulated?
They sometimes fiercely defend their air space, would be nice to have this somehow in the game.

no, pretty much just empty land, in fact you will maybe fly over it a lot, with out knowing it
there really wasn't fierce battles fought, if one plane came over, 4 or 5 Swiss would meet it, if 30 planes came over, the Swiss would leave them alone, plus it was known that damaged planes would be coming in to try and land, so, not every plane seen was taken as a kill on sight deal, and they did treat both sides close to the same

The only large scale air battles as such were during 3 days in June with about 20 aircraft being lost by both sides when German raids hitting Southern France tried to take a short cut.
After that the Germans stayed out of Swiss airspace while the Swiss Air Force was temporarily grounded to cool things down.
After that there were practically no run ins with the Germans any more since the front had moved away from the Swiss border.
Since there were several instances where Swiss cities or countryside were bombed, Allied bomber formations were assumed to be hostile and would be engaged at will with any AA available. They were generally avoided by fighters since they had trouble inflicting meaningful damage, the primary Swiss fighter during the war was the ME-109E3, which only had 1 20mm and 2 7.5mm, rather anaemic when dealing with a FF.
Single aircraft were if possible intercepted by 2 fighters and guided to the nearest air base. If shot at or if the aircraft refused to follow instructions, the fighters would try to shoot it down. In general, they were left alone by AA since they were assumed to be trying to land. The exception was after a bombing incident. For a few weeks any Allied bomber was then considered to be fair game by many AA batteries.

WoW...I never knew that! I always wondered how Switzerland could have stayed out of an air war!

My father bombed some railroad bridge in Swiss territory by mistake late in the war; never saw any Swiss aircraft, and when he got back to base, the general sentiment of his superiors was that it was no big deal. Of course in the official reports, it was an Italian bridge. They did think the Germans were using the rail lines to ship supplies and were not too concerned about any Swiss reaction.
