Beta v1083c: Airgroup Draws Replacements Above Squadron Max Size

See the attached save from before combat resolution.
Squadron VD-3 (slot 2866) just transfered to Savii (near Pago Pago). Max squadron size is 8. During turn resolution the squadron drew replacements and ended up with Serviceable 7 + Maintenance/Damaged 2 = 9 total. Note that Reserve aircraft is 0.
During the game I've seen many squadrons with 1 or more extra aircraft that were not Reserve. Maybe I was lucky enough to catch how it happens?
See the attached save and run the turn to see what I just described.

they don't go into reserve until they are repaired. So you CAN have more planes than group if you had a reserve and some got damaged/maint, then the reserve is moved to ready status. For example 8 ready; 0 dam; 2 reserve run turn then 7 ready; 3 dam; 0 reserve

No, this does not have to do with Reserve airframes. The unit had 0 Reserves before the transfer, none were added, and just prior to turn resolution the unit still had none. After turn resolution the unit had none, and now (many turns later) the unit still has none. It has (many turns later) 8 Ready + 1 Damaged/Maintenance (against a Max of 8), and it has been stood down forever and a day.
This is some kind of bug where the unit picks up an unasked for airframe which is kept as Damaged/Maintenance, it does not go into Reserve.
I doubt it's the most significant bug around, but at least there's a "before" save captured to look at.

Its an odds/even thing.
The code wants to issue planes in 2's....[&:]

Well - the group was completely full already so it should not be issuing any planes, and 'full' meant 8 and 1 (odd number) was issued to make 9 (odd number). So, it doesn't sound like what you conjecture.
Maybe I didn't state this clearly enough in the first post - the group is full (no need of planes), and bing! an extra plane shows up. I posted the save from before the turn execution where the extra plane shows up, so hopefully that will help.

Strange, when I loaded the save, VDS-3 had 7 planes. Then the 'add replacements phase', since it needed planes, gave it a minimum of 2 planes.

No - one plane was leftover at the transfer origin! I'll check the save to find it as I forget the origin base.
UPDATE: Wrong about a plane being left at the transfer origin (Thank you!). Obviously it was lost enroute and I thought it was unready and left behind.
Okay - so we have (sometimes?) 2 planes being sent to a group when it only needs 1. Is that WAD? Why does the extra plane stay maintenance/damaged forever instead of going into reserve?

It should only be taking one plane into the group.
The two-at-time was a way of spreading the replacements around. However, I didn't properly consider the situation where only one plane was actually needed.
Will be corrected in next patch.

Understood - thanks.
