So many Japanese fighters doing 360'ish mph?

It was a design point (600 kph). So were 300 mph and 500 kph.

Horse crap. If you don't know what you are talking about, it might be wise to just not not talk at all.
The game, which is what this is, does not have design points.

Maybe I understood him wrong, but I took it to mean it was and aircraft design point at that point in time... [&:]

That's what I thought he said as well. I think JWE owes Herwin an appology...

I think he is talking about a Design Point defined by the Jap Airforce... not by Matrix..

I think so too, in fact I understand the Japanese would often send out a "wish list" of specs, and companies would compete to meet it.
"I want a plane that flies 600kph, up to 30K ft, with a range of 1000KM, carrying 4 30mm cannon, etc.)" Companies wanted to win, so they just built to the speed minimum in order to max the other qualifications

That's pretty much how every countries operated though.
Twin engined fighters could go quite fast and remember that all thoses planes were late war

Tetchy. All I was suggesting was that it was a round number in some set of units that the design committee (or committees) inserted in all the specs it issued during the period. You know how specs are written...
